Navigating through the WWW
Hyper-Text Links
When you are visiting a web page, there are special
pieces of text called
hyper-text links that when you
click on them they link you to another web page. You can
also have images, graphics or parts of images that also link
to other web-pages when you click on them. This is one
way you can navigate through WWW space.
Here is a hyper-text link. Click on it tp go to IBM's page.
IBM's WWW homepage
Back, Forward, Home
There are three buttons common to most all browsers and they
are defined below:
- Back OR Left Arrow Indicates return to previously viewed webpage.
- Forward OR Right Arrow Indicates go to web-page initially viewed right after current page.
- Home When you hit this button it always goes to the same webpage defined as your
browser's homepage (see Options menu to set this).
Go Menu
Some browsers have a "Go" menu that beside having the Back, Forward
and Home options, also, list in order the most recently visited
homepages and you can simply select one to return to it. Thus,
you do not have to keep hitting the Back or Forward buttons to reach
it.
Try it now!
