Smart Card

  • Typically, have a physical computer chip embedded in a card.
  • Stores information about you and what the smart card is going to be used for (kind of transaction...maybe address and credit card....maybe health information, etc).
  • Hence used with physical devices, pay phones, airport, banking machines, etc
  • Conact & Contactless smart cards....some you have to run through a reader...others transmit wirelessly the information.
  • Typically require a password...so that you give consent for card to be "read".
  • Could be used for Internet transactions at physcial kiosks, or????
