Wireless Development - the options
1) Create Regular webpages that users can try to view from small displays like palms and web-enabled phones.
difficult to achieve dilivery of much information. Download time a real issue 2) Build applications optimized for handhelds using Wireless Application Protocol (WAP). WAP applications sit on Web server. Displays geared towards cell phones....allow minimal text and interaction.
Works well for applications that deliver small ammounts of timely data with limited lifespan. E.g. stock quotes, weather forecast, discout offers. Good for small amount to view and not rich graphics. 3)Build applications optimized for handhelds using Web Clipping, an HTML based technology that also runs on Web server but allows for rich graphical displays and interactions
4) Build native Palm OS applications, with logic and data distributed as appropriate across the handheld and Web server. Native application such as this can incorporate on-line and off-line components.
Best for high-speed, mission critical applications |
